La Concordia's Clinical Training Program

Mission

To train future clinicians in providing culturally competent care and overall wellness to those in need of mental health services.

Vision

Our clinicians will be equipped to understand and respect diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering healing and well-being for every individual in need of support.

About Our Program

At La Concordia, we value education as a resource for wellness in our community, for this reason we have structured our training program with several activities designed to build well-rounded, trauma informed, culturally affirming clinicians. La Concordia Psychotherapy and Wellness Clinic offers practicum opportunities for postdoctoral psychological associates advanced training to ensure higher level competency of clinical assessment, psychological diagnosis, intervention treatment and planning, and consultation. Additionally, we offer ongoing training in: organization management and administration; professional conduct, ethics, law and standards of practice; and an understanding of issues relevant to all of the above. Training will be accomplished through professional socialization, mentoring, as well as adequate supervision and group consultation. Training may also include attending additional didactics available in the community, as well as implementing didactics for other trainees and/or providers. Our practice ensures that trainees achieve advanced clinical competency via individualized goals, professional objectives, and core competencies that will be assessed on a quarterly basis, or as needed.

Didactic and experiential training will occur at La Concordia Psychotherapy and Wellness Clinic via active participation in weekly individual supervision with the primary and delegated supervisors, weekly group supervision, Seminar Lectures, and group didactics. The primary supervisor will be available for consultation as clinical issues or concerns arise. In the event the primary supervisor is not available, trainees are required to communicate with their delegated supervisor or licensed staff. The trainee will build upon their existing clinical skills and knowledge via ongoing scholarly research of professional articles to better inform treatment interventions that best suit individual client needs. The trainee may attend specific clinical treatment didactics and/or professional conferences as they relate to specific cases and/or areas of clinical interest. Training regarding the organization, maintenance, and administration of clinical services in a private practice setting.
